Walkabout: Seoul, Korea
The topography of Korea is 70% mountainous and only 30% consists of lowlands and plains. During my week-long visit in Seoul I made day trips to Daegu by high speed train and Gwangju by air. I saw mountains from the air and en route on the train. I was delighted to see snow covered peaks the last two days in Seoul. I especially like the sight of the moutains that surround Seoul because they frame that metropolis in a natural context, otherwise it’s skyescrapers, roadways, mega underground walkways, shopping complexes above and below ground and an immense population.
