Togonon is delighted to present their second solo exhibition by Fan Lee Warren entitled “Shifting Layers of Consistency”. This show will feature paintings and drawings inspired by fables, myths and stories Fan Lee’s elders told her when she was growing up in Birmingham, Alabama and Chicago, Illinois.
Art historian Dr. Bridget R. Cooks states: “Warren’s paintings of domestic and international scenes of the African Diaspora, show the connectedness of rituals from the past to the present and asks her viewers to think through time to consider how much our world has changed, and yet stayed the same throughout the generations”.
Fan Lee Warren received her M.F.A in painting and sculpture at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has been exhibiting her work nationally for 25 years and currently lives and works in Oakland.
